Frequently Asked Questions
Adjusting tilt sensitivity
Open Settings and choose Low, Medium, or High tilt sensitivity. Low is recommended for younger children and first-time players.
Managing music, sound effects, and haptic feedback
Open Settings to switch music, sound effects, or haptic feedback off independently.
Resetting game progress
A parent or guardian can use Reset Progress in Settings and complete the parental gate and confirmation. For signed-in players, recent authentication is also required. Reset removes local and cloud progress plus that player's leaderboard entries, while retaining the account profile.
Progress synchronization between devices
A parent can create an optional account with Google, or with Apple on iPhone/iPad. The first sign-in merges local and cloud progress using maximum unlocks/stars and minimum valid times. Offline play remains available and qualifying completions retry when the connection returns.
Signing out or deleting an account
Sign out retains cloud data and local progress. Delete Account requires a parent gate, confirmation, and recent provider authentication; it removes Firebase account data, profile, consent, progress, and scores, and revokes Apple authorization when applicable. Local progress remains so signed-out play can continue; use Reset Progress first if it should also be erased. See the account deletion page if the app is unavailable.
Using the same player on another device
Sign in with the same provider originally used for that player. Google and Apple identities are not linked or merged. If a provider conflict appears, stop and use the original provider.
Changing a nickname, age, or country
A parent can set or edit the name, age, and country directly in Settings, with or without an account. While signed out these stay on the device. With an account, the change also updates the profile and existing leaderboard metadata, and times remain as they were. Nicknames are limited to 18 characters and may be replaced with a generated name if server validation rejects personal/contact-like text.
Names on the leaderboard that are not real players
While a board holds fewer than twenty real times, Lady Beetle fills the remaining places with fictional entries so a new player has someone to race. They are created by the app on the device, are not other children, and are never stored or counted in anyone’s statistics. Once twenty or more real times exist for a board, none appear on it. See What Other Players Can See.
Water and bridge gameplay
Water is a gentle obstacle rather than a failure. Approach bridges through their ends and cross along the planks.
Setting a safe volume for my child
The game has no volume slider of its own and plays at your device’s media volume. Set that level yourself with the game running before your child starts, and re-check it after connecting headphones or a speaker. Music, sound effects and haptics can each be switched off in Settings. See the Health & Safety Notice for hearing guidance.
Screen time, breaks and session limits
Lady Beetle has no timers, streaks, daily rewards or notifications, and never penalises a child for stopping, so you decide how long a session lasts. Use Apple Screen Time, Android Digital Wellbeing or Google Family Link to enforce limits. See the Health & Safety Notice.
Motion discomfort, dizziness or tired hands
Stop play, rest away from the screen, and lower Tilt sensitivity to Low in Settings before resuming. Full guidance, including photosensitivity information, is in the Health & Safety Notice.
Children’s privacy and data collection
Signed-out gameplay keeps progress local. Optional accounts upload a provider-backed profile, integer age, confirmed country, progress, stars, and times to Firebase. Public rows show only nickname, rank, time, and stars. Read the full Privacy Policy.
